Hemi or CTD?
the cummins is an awesome truck. if i could have it my way id own a hemi and a cummins. they are both great. there is no denying youll get a lot more bang for the buck out of modding a cummins vs. hemi
My 06 Mega CTD gets between 16-20 mpg empty. Towing my Road Runner on a 2400 pound trailer and sitting in a lot of traffic idling resulted in 13 mpg.
Oil changes don't have to be done as often, but do require 3 gallons of oil. Sometimes you have to drive a little further to find a diesel pump, but that's not really a big deal.
I briefly had an 03 Hemi 1500 QC. It was fine, but I like my CTD much better.

Just out of curiosity I stopped in and test drovethe new 5.7 Tundra Limited. It's an awesome truck and380 HP is no lie, it's fast! Awesome inside too. But the bottom line is they are very expensive and actually a bittoo nice insidefor me work out of. The demo unit I drove(4400miles) was $34,719 not bad for that truck, but I'd hate to pay more for thatthan a brand new '072500 SLT Q/C 4x4 Long Bed Cummins. In my dream worldI'd haveone of each!

Honestly - Look at it this way. TheCTD is a very good engine, better than the Duramax and the Powerstroke. All 3 engines had problems, but for some reason the Cumins has come on top. The rails on the Powerstroke are still having issue as well as the torque converter on that trany that ford is using. The Duramax has its issues with injectors but it has a solid trany on the Allison. The Cumins will have injector pump failures and the older automatic transmission was weak for the torque the cumins put out (you never heard of problems with their standard trany).
All diesel engines have better durability and will give you better performance. However, the Powerstroke and Duramax have their torque at higher RPMs and do better at higher speeds, while the Cumins, is a monster at low RPMs (you almost cannot bog it down).
Another way to consider this, is look at the number of used Diesel trucks for sale. You will see lots of Powerstrokes, some Duramax, but you will be damned to find a Cumins out on a used car lot with less than 200K miles. The Cumins just lasts for a long time, holds it value and in my opinion it is a better vehicle for the money paid.
With that said, I have a Hemi 1500, I love it, it purrs and roars when I want, I like the Hemi mystique and hell it is a fun truck to drive. I pull about 5k lbs with it and it does fine. I dont drive it alot but it does what I need it to do. I will however, make my next purchase a CTD. There is just no comparison.

I sell my trucks after a year and a half when it gets 100k on it. The cummins is an awsome engine. I get oil changes every 3500 miles because I purchased the 600dollar plan that gives unlimited oil changes for as long as you own the truck. I didnt tell them I put over 6k a month
. I am in my truck constantly and love it. The fuel filter needs changing about every 7500 miles, and the air filter depending on the filter. I hardly ever tow anything and is mostly highway driving. I will never own a gas engine in a truck.

i would say, ctd all the way however hemi is a great motor which i still owns them and planning to trade it for ctd because of its mileage and its power. My friend has reported to get 22 mpg on highway traveling at 65 mpg with ctd so i would recommend ctd.
