34 Gallon tank REALLY 34 Gallons?
ok, so my truck has the upgrade to 34 gallons... i watch my mpg & DTE (distance to empty) like a hawk... under about 40 DTE it switches to "LO FUEL". so i figure i drive another 20 or so miles, even with worst case, now i should get down to about 1-2 gallons, therefore fill up with 32-33 gallons... $85 later, i only put in 29! what gives?!?!? is the computer estimate THAT far off from actual?
The last i knew... When i had me 05... before the lo-fuel.... When it said 0... I belive i still have 5-15 percent of a tank.. can't remember... But the senser does'nt go down the the exact amount of fuel... More a get your *** to the nearest gas station... If you did'nt know that... then you'd flip out being 5 miles from the nearest station when the thing shows 0... But because of the lo-fuel warning... hard to say where you are.... Might be the same way.. But i doni't know... just know that when the light comes on... i need me some petro.... Hope this helps....

1/2 tank then fill it. not only will it keep dirt from being introduced to the engine, but will mentally seem like you are spending less.

Isn't the fuel pickup in a fixed location inside the tank, making whatever sludge that is on the bottom get sucked in anyways? It doesn't move with the level of the fuel.
I've run my tank down, a couple of times, to where I pump in around 31-32 gallons before. I average about 28-30 gallons on a fill up. I am not afraid to run my tank low.

Many different vehicles I have seen have a little margin of error towards reading lower than they actually are. They may read "E", but still have a few gallons left in them. I bet if you ran it truly engine stalled empty, it would take real close to 34. I have the 34 gallon tank also and it usually takes around 16 or 17 gallons to fill it from half a tank.
