i've used a bunch of oils and amsoil 5w-30 seems to work the best for me. next in line would be mobil-1 or rp. the others break down too fast. so far amsoil has held up the best. the pepboys near me started stocking lucas this year, so next oil change i'm gonna try lucas.
oh, and i use k&n filter 2004, but might change that out too to a larger one. the 2006 or 2008 i think, can't remember.

 

Just switched to Mobil-1 5w-30 with the Mobil-1 #301 filter

Reason: Buying it at Wally world in a juggets it for $4 a quart andAmsoil or RP can not make me believe that theirsis that much better to justify the cost.
I will continue to conduct oil testing at Blackstones Lab to see how it works.

 

I use Mobil 1 5-30 inmy wife's car and in the Ram, I use Amsoil in my motorcycles. My father was aMobil distributor when I was growing up, I started using the oil cause he had it in stock. Few years after that I had chance to tear my bigblock chevy apart for overhaul, that I had been running Mobil in. Clean as a whistle inside. That sold me on Mobil oil. Not long after that, I rebuilt a couple other motors that had run Quaker State. Both of them were so gunked up inside with parafin, that turned me against the Pennsylvania oils for life (quaker state, pennzoil, etc). I realize all that has probably changed in the 30 years since all this occurred, but once its in my head like it is, it'll take dynamite to get it out...lol.

p.s. I use the AMSOIL in my bikes instead of Mobil 1, cause my own un-scientific tests it seemed like the Amsoil held up better in the air cooled engines, they ran quieter longer.

 

Ok, can someone please tell me what oil the 07 hemis actually call for. I am away from my truck and almost in need of an oil change. I seem to remember my 05 needing 5w20???? Is the 07 5w20? I seem some going with 10w30? Please let me know exactly what the 07 hemis require by manual! Thanks in advance!

I have always used Mobil 1 Oil with Mobil 1 filter on the engine, but I have always used Royal Purple in Ram axles. Royal Purple is cheaper than Mobil1 gear lube around here. On the engine side, Mobil 1 5w20 is easier to come by than Royal Purple.

I have the same question, also how many quarts? and if theres a difference cause its winter now? My truck only has 9,000 miles, not sure if that matters either.

The 07 Hemi 1500 calls for 5w-20 and it takes 7 quarts.
