Any chance you can draw up a simple diagram of how you incorporate le resistance in the wiring. Thanks.

It's fairly simple use t-taps so you dont have to alter your factory connector and tap the negative and positive wire and add the resistor across them. To take the guess work out of finding the correct resistor use an ohm meter and measure the resistance of the factory lamp and use a resistor as close to the reading as possible but no less than the reading.

Dude, you are licensed electrician, of course is fairly simple.

I am just a poor ol aeronautical engineer/systems support analyst/command control assistant. What the hell do I know about measuring le resistance from the bulb.

For real though, do I just grab my DVM and set it to le resistance and measure it with the light on or off? I'll draw the diagram, you tell me if its right.

Thanks again.

Alright Hemi,
The original light bulb measures between 3.6 and 4 ohms. Thats just the bulb not connected. I tried to measure the LED bulb and could not get a reading. So you are saying like this?

I dont think you will get a resistance reading through an led (ive never tried but im not sure what you would read cause its really not a resistive load and really not a bulb at all its a diode), but yes your diagram is exactly what i did

Cool thanks. One more thing, le resistance that I have to buy from Radio Shack should be 3.5ohms? or should I stick with your 1ohm suggestion?

Exactly.
All your doing is forward biasing the diode with a small voltage applied across it.
Reverse the leads and you will stop the diode conducting and read open circuit.

I guess that explains why when I first put it in, it would not light up, but if I reversed it, it lit up. What about the ohmage of le resistor? Thanks.

Stick with the 3.5, the 1ohm was the reading I got from both high and low beam headlights.
