My grandson has recently come into town with his 2005 ram 1500 and has recently had a train horn installed on his truck. He likes to go around blasting them and scaring people. His grandma be says that they are illegal and he keeps telling her that they are perfectly legal. can anyone tell me about the legality of train horns.

 

i would say it all depends on your local noise pollution laws.....

 

A horn is a horn to me... the louder the better....

 

hopefully this isn't too useless of a post as i have no actual legal knowledge, but a horn is a safety device. it shouldn't be used just to be used, it's for warning people, avoiding accidents, and so on. tell your grandson to quit being a dip**** before he gets in trouble...not for having a train horn, but for using a horn (any horn) when he shouldn't.

I can not wait to get mine, I had cheap air horns on my 1500 and it was nice

 

My son is wanting to get one as well on his truck once he gets it. There are people in my town that have them and dont see why they would be considered illegal. The only problem is that my wife saysmy soncant get onebut I say yes, so we will just have to convince her.

but to answer the question....i dont think it would, i mean hell it's a horn....if people think it's too loud then they gettin too old....(no offense to anyone here lol)

 

Air horns are illegal, however, if it is an electric one, it depends on noise ordinance.
