Default Locking Gas Cap for Ram 1500?

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Stant locking gas cap that is listed for my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. I'm very disappointed in it, because even when locked, if you push down moderately hard and turn to the left, you can get it right off. I went up to my Dodge dealership and bought the Mopar version and it does exactly the same thing! I compared the two, and they look nearly identical. It's hard to explain, but I believe this is simply an engineering defect, due to the way the caps screw on.

I would think that by this day and age, someone would have come up with a solution that works. Not to mention, I'm surprised that all vehicles don't just have a fuel door that you can't open from the outside.

Does anyone know of a gas cap that actually works, or possibly of an after market locking fuel door that can be installed?

Thanks,
Steve

The reason I asked is that when I get some free time to play in my shop I was going to make a stamping die set to make a stainless mesh screen to go into the lower end of the fill pipe to keep shyipon hoses and pesty DOT fuel probes out of the tank.
