I think the oil filter you use should be as important as the oil you use.........When you bring up this topic you get varying opinions.

I changed mine every 5,000 Miles when i used mobile 1. NOW i go to 10,000to 12,000Sounds strange but I don't use Mobile 1 anymore, I use royal purple. it is WONDERFUL stuff, costs a little more but it lasts longer and is better for yoru engine.

Anyone else notice a few important things concerning those videos?
Namely, the condition of theall theoilsthey removed, and the lack of complete dynomometerfluid testing. I would love to see what a simple "new" fluid swap would do. I.E. : Set baseline dynomometer run, swap fluids with factory recommended (non-synthetic), dynomometer run for result, then swap to Royal purple and run again. I would bet there would be little to no difference between the last two dynomometer pulls.

I change my oil at 10K, and my filters at 5K, use Mobil1 exclusively for motor oil and Fram for filters, and top off as necessary between any changes.

The reason synthetic is superior is that it maintians its lubricating properties much longer. Under heat, conventional oil starts to disintegrate.

The color of the oil is from impurities and does not men it has broken down.

With synthetic one should be able to go twice as far or farther, the real issue is that Dodge will not honor warranties if you do not change every 3K.
