Looking to buy 2005 RAM 1500 SPORT...BUT
Hey, totally new here - and looking to buy a RAM 1500 Sport in Northern NJ. After looking over 3 RAMS, I took a look under 1 to see how the step bar was bolted to the body. Thats when I saw the following pics. ALL 3 2005 RAMS looked like this underneath. Is this typical from the RAMMS to rust this fast? Any suggestions? I have a deposit down on it becuase everything else is perfect....

That is probably from all the salt from the winter time. To me, that looks odd. I don't know what else to add to this. I guess just be sure to check that all that is stable and there are no leaks, cracks, etc. Good luck!
yeah i've never seen a ram rust that fast, unless the previous owner refused to take care of it during the winter....take it to the car wash like twice a month (or more) during the winter to at least wash all the salt and **** from underneath the truck.....and you could always have someone undercoat it too
tail pipe rust is very common, and if your like the rest of us, its gonna getreplaced with a different exhaust system anyway, but that diff and drive shaft look nasty as hell.
My '04 has almost no rust underneath at all, the only places where I have ANY appreciable rust is the brackets holding my aftermarket exhaust (I've already had to cut two off and weld a piece of galvanized flat stock in their places). Other than that, almost like new. Now granted, I live in Fl. & since it's lifted, it's easy for me to get the pressure washer under there when I wash it.
I'd make them do something there (and not just paint over) before I'd close a deal.

I would be willing to sell mine. Check gallery. There is NO rust under it other than the drive shaft and transfer case. I did not paint that as it can throw it out of balance. Never seen winter, painted the rear axle winter of 06 as that is usually the first thing to start rusting up, see first pictures. Later pictures is how it has held up since then as the pics were just taken.
