RE: 06/07 owners screwed by Dodge?
I have an '03 the Cylinder cracked at 67,000 of a 70,000 warranty and Chrystler could'nt care less. They already charged me $600 to fix it wrong the first time now they want $2400 to fix itright. My last Ram 1500 pickup completley fell apart at 60,000 mi. Trans went, Rear went, Fuel Pump went, U-Joints went so I got a new one with the 7 year 70,000 warranty

[/quote] 07's can get the lifetime warranty for the low low price of $1600. This is of course applies to those who purchased one before the lifetime warranty came out. I got a flyer from my dealer Friday with info on the warranty. Don't know that I will fork out $1600 and buy it, especially since the offer ends on the 30th of September.

I don't read this forum as much as I like to, but thought I read something a few days ago about a special warranty deal of $750 (or was it$900/) for 07 buyers by the end of Sept? Anyone have any first hand info on this?

I had an 04 Dodge Ram and when I saw the commercials about a lifetime warranty on the 07's I went out and did something about it.
I now own an 07 Dodge Ram. [8D]
I wasn't mad about it, I simply went into the dealer and demanded the best trade in value for my "nearly new truck", told them I wasn't purchasing out of necessity, and told them that the new truck with the lifetime warranty was not worth more than 10,000.00 over what I owed at that point. The majority of dealers stated they understood however the deals crumbled at the final negotiation table. Took me the better part of a month to find a dealer who met my demands but I feel as if I was treated fairly and I am happy with having the lifetime powertrain warranty.
The downside to the story is that I will not be installing any mods or aftermarket parts on the POWERTRAIN of thetruck for fear of being blacklisted on the lifetime warranty.
So in the end, don't be mad or expect anyone to owe you anything, assess the value of Dodge's current offering and make your choice on what to do.

No one got screwed. Vehicle manufactures do not give away warranties. Manufacture’s warranties are included in the price of the vehicle. You just don’t see it broken out on the window sticker. I happen to know Dodge has a team of people who sole job is to re-coupe the cost of model year incentives (including) warranties in the manufacture of the vehicle. They will shave a little here and there and until the recoup the costs. Maybe a little cheaper bolts in some locations, fabric that is not quite as good of quality, making a new option for something that was standard equipment on previous model years etc, etc (of course all this in systems not covered under a lengthy warranty).
I can believe that their research indicated warranties are not important to most people. I’d rather not pay for it and have a vehicle that doesn’t need a warranty. So far I haven’t had the need on the last 2 Dodges I’ve owned.

I don't understand how people can think that they were screwed by Dodge. That would be the same is you thinking you were screwed by their current incentives expiring and then having a better incentive the next week. When I got my truck, the next week they had another $1000 off the price, was I pissed, or screwed by Dodge? No. Just the way things go.
