Get you that 63 Pappy, just don't be surprised if that nice, quiet plastic intake tube don't turn to a pretty, shiny, chromed,EGR echoing tube overnite one night. I hear that the chrome fairy comes around at night and turns ugly, dull, black plastic into nice, pretty, NOISY chrome...
Oh, yea and nice grammar there JDavis, I'm still trying to figure out what you are trying to say...[sm=WTFsgign.gif]
PAPPY, you get that translator yet???
Don't sweat it JD, I'm just messin' with you, this being your 1st post and all.......

Wow... haven't been around for a week or so and still the same battles ensue... too bad hank didn't chime in. That would have completed the experiance for me. Nice illustrations Pappy.... still have to get out and see that movie. Looks totally bad ***. And I like shiney K&N CAI's... don't really care who gets pissed off.
FFMedic!!!
Good to see you, you old fire dog!
Nah Hammer lives down the street and is insinuating he is going to swipe my plastic tube and replace it with his chrome one. I r a lil drunk right now so no gramer or spelli hits plz LoL, Ah heck fire away!
The 63 series is post to be quiter than the metal one (egr valve, super resonance, other stuff I can't force me lil mind into thinkin right now, but you get the point me hopes)
Any who Pirata says it rocks so thats good enough fer me. And he did an outstanding job of postin it too & pics ta boot. Pappy likeys.
Heck I think I'm gonna go watch 300 right now! Sweet. It is better when u r a lil enebreated.

Both the 2nd Gen Ram and 3rd Gen Ram
factory air boxes
are worth examining carefully.
Dodge Engineers weren't shooting for maximum power
but were taking into account all the needs of the typical pickup owner.
As you look at either,
ask yourself these questions:
1. Have some tricks been used to deflect bugs and trash away from the inlet when moving?
Does the air 'hit' some bends or barriers like the headlight on purpose to deflect stuff?
By doing this is the life of the filter extended for the average owner who is not trying to get the last little bit of power?
2. Is it proper to compare the restriction and flow of a air filter design only when it is brand new and not dirty?
If air filter are typically replaced or cleaned every 20,000 miles doesn't it make sense to compare flows when there is 10,000 miles on whatever is being compared?
3. Does this design suck hot air when the truck is not moving, so that idle fuel consumption is slightly lower...then switch to cooler air when the truck is moving to give slightly more power?
3. Does this airbox inlet protect from heavy rain or water ingestion?
4. Does this airbox reduce noise ?
5. Does this airbox create any 'Ram Air' effect ?
If there is any Ram Air going on the MAP sensor will read lower at 5,000 rpm wide open throttle in first gear....then read slightly higher at 5,000 rpm wide open throttle in 3rd gear when the vehicle speed is higher.
