Default 07 Lifetime Powertrain Warranty...

is being offered on select Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge (my 07 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 would be qualified) vehicles purchased after a certain July date. So I feel a little pissed off I guess, causeif I knew, I'd of held out and bought my 07 a few months after I did to be eligable. Bad business as far as I'm concerned, so I called to complain 1-800-992-1997, and felt good about it. Then I called my dealer who knew exactly what my call was about since he's recieved many this week, and he apologized and offered me the option to "buy-in" to this plan for $750.00 for any 06 or newer with less than 36000 miles. The price jumps to 1500.00 in September.
I'm too pissed to continue writing.
WTF Dodge, you don't jam your loyals!
They need to reconsider.

I called and was quoted the same price. They told me that all the maintaince has to be done by Dodge(oil changes, tune ups, etc.). I said all by Dodge? Then they back tracked and said they would except work done by any ASE certified technician as long as you had proof maintaince was done and at the correct intervals.

I do all my own maintaince. I don't like anyone touching my truck unless I have to so I'm not buying the lifetime warranty it looks like.

Ditto on that. To many horror stories come out about all the chain garages that do mass work and it is hard as hell to find a local garage that you can trust.

How can you be upset by this though? If they would have done it sooner, the people that bought before you would have been pissed off, if they would have anounced a month before it went into effect then that would give a chance to other automakers to come out with a lifetime warranty.

you have to keep all of your receipts too, if you lose even one, you void your warranty, not worth it. i told them i wouldnt pay that price, it should have been given to me free, they knew full well they would offer it. Oh and you have to have dodge inspect your vehicle every 5 yrs or that will void it too.

THEY CAN NOT VOID A WARRANTY because you do your own maint! It violates a federal law, if memory serves me correct it is the Moss Ferguson act. YES, you must keep all recpts, etc but if you do oil changes ona regular basis, etc they CAN not void a claim. Will they try to void claims, I am sure they will go out of their way to void claims, but never give in if you have the recpts. you are fine.

Zack

PS: And they can't even give you crap if you use a WIX or Hastings oil filter, etc it is all against the law

Oh and the 5yr inspection is free, however it must be done within two months of the purchase date of the truck every five years.

But I wonder if every five years they will find tons of "fake ****" wrong with your truck, and demand that you have them fix it, or it will void the warr. I will have to check into that but even then I don't think that they could void it either.

Even if they "Find Fake ****" all you would have to do is take it to a certified mechanic and have it re-evaluated. If you can get a certified clean bill of health you should be fine. After you get it and prove that everything is good... Sue the dealership for false claims. You can even have them shut down! I doubt they will risk that just to make a few dollars, but if they do you have the power to "correct" them. Just make sure they put EVERYTHING wrong in writing before you get it re-evaluated so they can't backpeddle and deny it.

thats right zack if forgot to put that, the 5yr inspection is free, atleast for now, that will probably change. but i would think keeping you receipts for oil and filters, etc should prove that you changed your own oil. Most oil change places ive seen know less about changing oil than most three year olds. lol
