4.7 Performance upgrades
Figured I throw this in here instead of starting a new thread. Just put on a Flex-a-lite 180 electric fan this weekend. The install took about 3 hours, but only because I spent almost 2 hours deciding how to mount it and keep the stock shroud. I had to keep the shroud because on my '03 4.7, the coolant and washer fluid reservoirs mount to the shroud.
As to performance, very noticable gains under 1500 rpm. I don't know if so much in the higher rpm ranges, but I haven't had much time to play yet. In my opinion, very worth while mod for a 4.7.

Congrats on the mod! This is going to be my nextone but I'm goingto be using the viper fan. Just for kicks I took off my clutch fan and drove like that for a mile or two to see what how the benefits would feel, results....acceleration improved greatly.
I went toa shop close by that had the gears and did the install. But you can get the gears from just about any online performance shop, for cheaper than a shop would charge for them. The reason I went my route wasfor peace of mindincase of a screw up then the shop would then be fully responsible. Total cost for me was $800.
I just had 4.88 gears installed on my truck. I have 37" tires is the main reason i went so big. I had rear lockers installed as well all for 1900.00. Keep in mind that the lockers are a little pricey and my truck is a 4x4 so double gears, labor, and master install kits.
