Default Turbo and Towing ?

If I installed the STS turbo kit will I still be able to tow a 7000 pound toybox without any problems?

EGT's are the big concern. kenihemi or hemifever would probably be the best people to answer this question; they both have sts turbos.

Just go with an Electronic Boost Controller.

This will allow you to switch between 2 boost levels. You could run low boost while towing and high boost when you want power. I wouldn't run with out one in a truck. Imagine running 8psi on a nice rainy/snowy day.

Thats a good idea. I'll have to see if STS has one for our trucks.

I run 3.5 psi on low boost and the boost controller allows me to switch to higher boost levels on the fly. As for towing, it's not really recommended in our config because we don't have a/f control in part throttle conditions. However, we've got our eyes on the custom diablo tuning software. Not the normal tunes that come with the Predator, but the custom software. That is supposed to allow fuel control at part throttle. If that happens, towing in low boost ought to be okay cuz you can crank a/f down to a nice safe cooling level.

I agree.

The boost controller only allows you to switch between high and low boost levels. We usually low boost level when someone else is driving like a dealer, wife, etc.

Even in low boost, the exhaust gas temps will go through the roof if you tow. Its all the literature that you get with the kit. It basically says, don't tow.

Diesels are made for heavy towing. Their turbos are different and designed for towing.

Ok I just checked out Prochargers website and they claim that the EGT's remain stable under extreme towing conditions so it looks like I'll be going the supercharger route. Thanks for the help guys.
