I bought the truck with a k&n drop in (that was removed....thanks) I purchased an eBay Hot Air Intake. Later realizing that all I was doing was pulling in hot air from the engine compartment. I measured and built my own box from aluminum with plexiglass lidand bought a K&N conical filter for $60. Heres what it looks like:

Nice, did you keep the resonator box to the intake?

For you that used the airrade kit with the stock air box. Can you tell a difference at all? My truck also came with a K&N drop-in and I am on a cheap budget and was looking into one of those jr. kits. is it worth it not? thanks.
I have picked up between 1-1/2 to 2 MPG since I installed the Airaid CAI on my 4.7L engine. Plus, it sounds great when you tromp on the accelerator!

I still dont understand how is that these type of intakes get cold air in???? I mean, the hood lid sits right on top and from the side of the hood no air goes in, right? Maybe I am not seeing something.

well, what you have is pulling air from besides the fender wall throught a snorkel in the bottom of the box.. just a pipe coming off with a filter pulling air from inside the engine compartment is not cold air. Mine is sealed and only getting air from besides the radiator through the grille. Cooler air. There really is no true "cold air" from inside the hood..

Not yours, hunter's. Yours, I asked if you kept the resonator between your "C"AI and throtle intake.

On mine it draws air in from a intake tube assembly that runs down the right fender well to draw air in from underneath the front of the truck. As the hood seals the box from the engine compartment it (theoretically) only sucks in cooler air from up front. That intake tube is the same one on the stock airbox.

If I were to come straight off the TB, the wires aren't long enough to connect the sensor. How would you extend the wires? What kind of wire?
