Get some stuff called engine brite from Gunk. Spray it on a cold engine wait a few minutes and then hose it off. I would not use a power sprayer inside and engine compartment.

Next time, BEFORE you go off-roading, spray your fenderwells and undercarriage with some cheap-o tire shine crap, or WD40. It sticks to everything and helps the mud and stuff come off a lot easier come cleaning time.

I would definatly not use a preasure washer under the hood just a good engine cleaner. On a side not from the pictures it sure looks like you had fun getting it dirty.

I like to use Steam Premium degreaser by Gumout. It comes in a black aerosol can at the auto parts store. Start from underneath on a warm engine (not too hot) and spray the underside of the oil pan, trans, engine block, etc. Then continue from up top, spraying all over the firewall, valve covers, and anything that looks dirty or greasy. He might need two cans if it's really dirty. Let sit for about 15 minutes to emulsify the dirt and grease, then hose off. I use a pressure washer, but I don't direct the spray at electrical components. Use a gentle stream of water on the electrical stuff. I usually follow upby dousing everything with Simple Green and another rinse, which gets rid of the degreaser smell somewhat. After the final rinse start the engine and let it idle until all the water has evaporated. Any lingering degreaser smell should subside in a day or two.

When I clen my engine, I hit it with the air compressor to get the heavy water out of the crevices. Then I let it run for a good 15-20 minutes to ensure it is dry.
