you also have to keep in mind that the cummins is a hell of a lot more heavy than the ole v-6 or the hemi for that matter...if you could pull it off though it would be pretty cool. I would only do something like that though if the motor was bad. wouldn't want to waste a perfectly good truck.
see thats my rose and my thorn!!! My 3.7L is in good shape, i take real good care of it, and it doesnt even have 20,000 miles on it yet. And from what i hear, it is the most reliable out of the 3 available engines. This is why i was just considering just building up this engine, but even with a couple grand put into it, i still dont think it would be all that powerful.

Im not looking to swap motors anytime soon, probably a year from now at the very earliest.

P.S. One more question!!!

I've heard of people boring out there motor, to get a bigger displacement and more Horsepower. Would it be worth it on this motor, and how much would that cost???

It be less of a night mare just get anouther truck after all of the Chinese enginering that it will take to get the truck to run right and work right ungrade thefront end and rear diffbiger radiator bettter trans ECT, and for the heaver motor and added power you be better off getting anouther truck that was made for it been down that road it's not worth it.

yeah true, but the thing is that ive only had it for 2 years coming this spring. and i still have another 4 or 5 or so to go until i have it paid off. But even besides that i love my truck!! i love everything about it, and i just enjoy putting work into it. You could say it holds some sentimental value. lol

You have a 7 year loan Dude but the time it's paid off will it be worth it to sink that kind of cash in to it ? I been looking in to getting mine regeared I been finding out 4.10s are the way to go for us with ourpowerhose 3.7 V-6.

I been wanting to keep some kind of good MPG Thats why I got the 3,7 In the first place Ha Ha the gear guy is telling me this most likely will help out this also and be able to have a truck thats more fun to drive thats not so LAZY it will not be no SRT V-10 but at least it will not cost you anouther $30.000 or $50.000 to buy anouther truck.

I with you it was a mistake to buy the V-6 but I like you stuck with it at least for a couple more years we will see when I not upside down in payments hopfuly Dodge will still have there new life time warenty that kinda makes me mad they should gradfather us in to this program when I purchased mine they didn't even have the 7-70000 mile I have the 3- 36000 I have 23000 on the clock already only had the truck for 1.4 years so far.

Have you seen the specs for the 2009 V6? Its a hell of alot more powerful then what we got now. hell i think it has more horsepower then the current 4.7L.

But yeah gears on my list, but how would i go about getting them? Would the easiest way be to just go to the dealership?

NO the dealership will make you pay top dollar find a good rear end shop where you live If you don't change the carrior it should cost about $700.00 to do a gear change on a 4X2 If you change to a better Carrior which I would do you'er in the rear end mite as will do it right if you go with a limited Slip carrior add anouther $400.000 to the price.

I have read and my freind that owns a rear end shop told me the stock rear end carriors are not the best he fixs alot of 9.25 Dodge rear ends.

OH yea purchased you'r gears, installation kit, Carrior from the place who doing the rear end job they most likley back there work up for at least 6 months or moremost places if you bring in you own parts it is(AS- IS) you on you own if it go's bad.

If you don't think the rear end not right keep on taking back make them fix it if you don't you most likley will be forking out anouther $700.00 to $2000.00 to get it fixed if the rear end Howls whinnes Clunks Chatters any adnormal sounds you never had before you had the gears changed take it back don't let them B/S you make them fix it.

I had my last truck go back at least 10 times it was there nightmare truck.

boring for displacement wont really give you much. Also if you do, try to stay at .030. If you go too big you could run in to cooling issues and reliablity problems. Have you tried performance upgrades, Im not sure whats readily available for the v6, but with the number they produce, i would assume there should be some. An engine swap would cast more than a good down payment on a new one. Plus rear end changes, drive shaft, suspension changes(due to the fact that it was intended for a v6) can lead to big money. Not really worth it in my book, but thats your decision m8. Hope this helps.
