Grinding?
Whining?
On accel or decel or both?
Most rear noise is improper ring/pinion lash, or an issue with carrier bearings.
Whining is more noticable when gears are a striaghter cut (angle of the gear teeth) then stock gears. The straighter cut makes them stronger, but noisier.
How noisey, or "normal" your is depends on the extent of noise.

sorry bout the caps my computer at work requires cap letters. i foorget some times. as far as cost nothing i work at a dealership my lead tech did it for me. i understand about the cuts, just wondering if anyone else out there had any noise.
4.10 to 1 gears should be quiet off the lot. In my personal experience anything steeper than 4.30 tend to whine a bit for the reasons stated above. most gears in the 4.30 and up range are strait cut, some super heavy duty trannys have strait cut gears and tend to whine also. Listen to a NASCAR sometime.
