Default 07 Ram Front Drive Shaft Lubrication

The front drive shaft on my 2007 Ram 3500 requires a lithium based lubricant, I have looked all over the drive shaft for a grease fitting and can’t find anything. Does the skid plate need to be removed for access? If anyone knows please enlighten me!

Thanks

It's a needlezerk grease fitting, that's why you're missing it. It sits flush and you need a special needle grease gun adaptor that gets inserted into for greasing. I assume you're looking for a standard zerk fitting sticking out. Look again with this in mind and I bet you'll find it.

Good luck.

Can you get to the fitting with out droping the drive shaft?

I took my '06 to the local Speed Lube, and the manage there said you can't get to the needle fitting with out dropping the drive shaft, which sounds kind of dumb to me, but 3 of the guys there said the same thing....

Don't need to drop the 'shaft. Easiest way to find is get the left front tire in the air, crawl underneath to see the joint, then rotate the tire while looking for it. It's there, but can be hard the first time, have patience with it.

I realize this is an old topic, but I have spent the past hour looking around under there for the needle zerk fitting and I can't find anything that even looks like somewhere grease should go...please help.

Default Holy forehead smacking craziness!

I'd like to find the engineer that decided hiding a grease fitting inside there was a good idea and smack the crap out of him. Finally found the fitting and after stabbing myself suitably in the thumb with the darn needle fitting got it greased up good. I won't say just how many pumps I put into it, but lets just say it's probably never been greased...ever. Dealerships, Jiffy Lube, they all lie. Anyway these are the two pictures I took of it after I cleaned it off and before it got greased. Hopefully this helps somebody else in the future.

They are just too f-ing lazy to do it. I've been doing mine for 182,000 miles and never pulled the drive line once, with the skid plate in place, it's not easy, but it isn't really hard either------5 minutes after you find it the first time---just get a hypodermic greasing needle, and a flashlight.
