I bougth after market wheels for my 2500 Ram. The wheels are 20X10, I am thinking of buying Nitto Terra Grapplers, I love the look (but don't know anything about them) I want the 305-55R20 (But migth go for the 305-50R20) not sure if the 55's fit on the stock truck. Anyone can inform me on the ride quality (quietness, comfort, thread durability on-road, etc) My other option would be the Toyo Open Country AT (same sizes as Nitto's), Local dealer sells the Toyo's 305-50R20's for 375$ CDN tx included, and the Nitto's will need to be ordered from the states. I would love to have an aggressive look and have on road durability. Any other tire suggestions you migth have.

I've only come across one pair of Nittos that a buddy had. He liked the tires but they seemed to wear down pretty quickly. Never heard a whole lot about the toyo's though. If your not set on those two brands Mickey Thompson and BFGoodrich make great tires...

 

I've checked the BF's All Terrain T/A KO, they only make them in LT305/55R20/E (no 50's) they are 33.4 inches, not sure if they will fit on my Ram 2500 2007. one issue that I have is I don't have the damn truck yet, another 3 weeks to wait, for now I'm stuck with my Ram 04 1500. always kept stock 20 inch tire sizes. Since not to many people want to advice me for the 2500 series (since they don't come from the dealer with 20's) and no one seems qualified in this aspect in this godforsaken province? I need major advice since I want to remove those tiny 17 inchers for the 20's the second I get the truck.

 

well the toyo's are good tires my buddies dad has them... if you want good durability i here good things about pro comps and also they have a good warrenty... btw.. 33.4's should fit under a 2500 i got a leveling kit on mine and im putting 35's on it...

 

I'm running 285 X 75 X 17's (basically 34" tires) that I'm fairly certain would have fit without issue on my 2500. I did do a leveling kit and a shock upgrade anyhow..didn't care for the "nose dive" stance....The tires are Toyo Open Country AT's, and I absolutely love them. They are quiet and behave well on the highway, but kicked butt in the snow, sand, mud, and the bit of off roading I've done while camping, etc..They wear excellent and are so far honestly the best truck tire I've ever bought (make sure you buy E rated or 10 ply...2500's are heavy and you need a real truck tire). A good pal of mine run's 20's with Toyo MT's, they look awfull mean and are only slightly louder than mine on the highway...can't say for wear yet as he's only had 'em a couple weeks.

As for the Terra Graplers, they look cool but lot's of folks say they get noisier with wear and at the 305 size wear out in the middle sooner. I've never ran 'em, but have watched a few folks beat the hell out of them in Moab (ultra popular rock crawling spot).

Either way I think your getting into the "premium" tire selection and would probably be happy with either...maybe read some reviews on tirerack.com for more input..

I have a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers on order in 325/65/R18's 34.8"x12.8 going on a leveled '02 1500. My buddy had to lift his silverado like 6" to fit the same tire and wheel combo. Gotta love our ginormous wheel wells. Anyways I've rode with him countless times and the Nitto's are considerably quieter than my other friends BFG A/T KO's. The Nitto's are actually rated to wear very well. BFG has been criticized for not doing much in the way of updating this tire. Not much has changed since my father had them on his F-250 ('78). Not to mention the Nitto's have a better profile than BFG IMO.

 

SLCHemi, how high did you go for the leveling kit, since the E rated toyo's (10 ply) are 33.2 inches high and 12.4 inches wide ( LT305-55R20)

I don't know anything about leveling kits, so if I do need one what do you suggest!!!

I don't see anything about a warranty is my only concern. They seem ok though. Install isnt hard, if you can get your hands on a spring depressor it will make it even easier, but its not necessary...

 

Toyo's are great tires, just a lot pricey. I'm very partial to Mickey Thompson / Dick Cepeks myself. I've now owned 3 different models in the last 8 years and they all perform very well and wear like iron.
I can't speak for the Terra Grapplers, but I have a buddy who had the Mud Grapplers. Great off-road tire, I'd say right up there with Toyo MT's, Mickey Thompson Baja Claws and Boggers. On road they sucked though. Noisy as hell, and the pavement wore them down in no time. Like Boggers they are great for a weekend fun truck, but impractical for a DD.

 

Any suggestions on a leveling kit (2/2.5 inch)

I checked both the thompsom/Cepek tires, they mainly all come in the 33 inch's high for the size I want,

I looked at the Baja ATZ Radial (305 55R20LT) for the thompson and
the Radial Fun Country II (305 55R20LT) for the Cepek,
any good,

As I can read your replies, it seems that the toyo's open country are probably the way to go, the best price I got for them is 1500$ CDN for 4 (305 50R20)(375$ each tx inc.) Will have to check for the LT version (305 55R20) I checked online for the Thomp./Cepek and are about the same price I'll have to check with my supplier what he can get.
