Default Brake pads.

Just replaced a set of front brake pads on my 03 Hemi 4X4.
They are still "bedding in" (60 miles on them so far) and have a special coating on them to achieve this.
They are EBC preformance s6000 greenstuff pads.
I did a replacement roughly 2 years ago with the same pads. The new padshowever, are very noisey under braking and sound terrible.
I can't remember if when I changed them out last time if they did this or not?
There's no shimmy/shake on the wheel, so the rotors are reletively true.
I cleaned all the old brake dust and rust debris from the rotor edges and stuff.
Is this normal?
Also, when lifting off the gas and free wheeling, I can here what can only be described as the pads catching and dragging on the rotors.
I'm not a mech andhave only changed pads, on other types of vehicles infrequantly.
I know I put them back on correctly as I'm not a total numpty LOLand used anti sieze grease on the back of the pads and locating edges near to the antirattle springsetc.
From what I'm guessing, it's just the beedingin of the pads causing the noise.
Am I correct????
Al.

Did your noise go away? Was there a big wear lip on the edge of the rotor? If so maybe its the new pad breaking in on this edge?

AL,

Was up!!!

You are obviously braking way too late and way too hard as you go into the corners. You really need to back out of it at the end of the back staight, not whan you're already into the corner-----Jeesh!!!

Did you have the rotors surfaced before you put the new pads on??? If not, you probably trying to bed them on an irregular flat surface---hence the scratching noise you getting when just cruising.

My guess is if you leave them alone, they will eventually bed, but won't last as long as they would if you have put them on fresh rotors---power slots maybe:0)

You know you really want them with that sequentially injected propane and all.

Cheers!

I realized this thread is old. I was just searching a little on brake pads and saw this thread. I thought I'd add a little info for the next person that comes across it.

Its either put some info in these threads or take them off the site after a few years with no info in them. I don't think they take them off. Do they?

WOW.
This is a really old thread.
Sorry for not posting up what the outcome was???
So...................for the nosey out there.................the pads were a bad batch would you believe.
I returned them and they sent out some new.
Much later, I got drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads. We call them discs over here in the UK.
All good stuff and my brakes are awesome!
