Hemi 5.7 Warm Up?

RE: Hemi 5.7 Warm Up?
When I lived in CT, I always let my truck warm up at least 4-5 minutes in the winter months and that was from being parked in a garage. Outside temps were always down near 5-20 degrees. This also gave me enough heat to keep the windshield clear. Back then, I had an '02 with the 4.7. Red

When I lived in Pa., I always would let the car warm up until the temp needle moved off the peg. As far as time, it all depends on how cold it was outside.

while you are warming your truck, warm your tranny too. let it idle in neutral for a minute or too, this will pump more fluid than park, warming the trans fluid.

The way it was explained to me by my tranny guy was this:
When the trans is in park, the park gear allows the pump to bypass to keep from building excess pressure during extended periods at idle. While in gear or neutral, the pump is engaged, allowing full pressure to circulate through the system.
Thats what I was told. At the drag strip, in my Demon, the trans temp drops much faster ideling in neutral than it does in park. Thats all the proof that I have that it works, but its enough to convince me.
