RE: Iridium spark plugs.
ok why are copper plugs better? Less heat from the plug? What abought running a colder Plat. or IR.plug? and why not run autolights are ac delco copper plugs, why do the plugs have to be Champions?
And would it not make sense to have all the electrodes ( spark gap ) facing the same why in the cumbustion Chamber?
Do the Aluims heads need a colder firing plug?

RE: Iridium spark plugs.
If I was building a race motor and racing for PINKS Yes every little bit helps but it's a street truck for getting to work and back and also to haul my family around 1 or 2 horse power less I never know about.
I have a old Race bike (1994) it's ported high compressionpipe and the list go' on and on it runs a cooler plug in it and 110 Octane Race Gas this engine matters what I put in it not my every day street truck.
I only run my bike 1 or 2 times a month now mainly I Married with Kid takes most of my time and it been to hot to ride ita all weather Bike fair weather rider Ha Ha.
I just waiting for it to cool down I love the mud riding.

RE: Iridium spark plugs.
Iridium are supposed to last longer than platinum. From my own experience as well as any research I have seen Premium and exotic metal spark plugs offer no advantage other than increased longevity. In most cases the costs outweigh any advantage.
On the other hand the 3.7 and the 4.7 engines have high current ignition coils that are very hard on conventional spark plugs. It's not uncommon to see extremely worn spark plug electrodes in as little as 15k miles on these engines and poor performance. It's one of the few instances where I would recommend platinum/iridium spark plugs in an engine that wasn't originally equipped. I'm not sure if the 5.7 uses the same high current coil.

Someone not afraid of experimenting
and who wants to help
the Ram pickup community gain further knowledge
could install two different brand irridium sparkplugs
in the same cylinder of their 5.7 Hemi
(or new model yr 2008 upgraded to dual plug 4.7V8)
and then run the plugs long enough to see which wears faster.
You would not have to only try two different sparkplugs
you could leave in a few of the stock sparkplugs
and compare their wear
to other aftermarket sparkplugs
during the same experiment.
