Default For those who own or want Rancho's Quicklift

Just thought I would share this e-mail response for those who own a pair or are remotely interested in buying some. This is from Rancho's support guys. I never got a clear explanation of the function of the strut and I was having a bad squeaking issue on one of them:

Me: I just purchsed the Quick Lift for my 07 Ram 1500. I understand it
has a 9 position adjustor on it, however what exactly is this adjusting? I
thought this was to increase or decrease the lift height, but I don't see
that being the case? Is this a fixed lift, I see it only lifted the truck
1.5" when I thought it could max out at 2.5". I have the ***** turned all
the way clockwise. Basically I'm just looking for an explanation of the
lift and the ***** and exactly what they adjust by what direction. The
paper in the box explained nothing. Also, the top of the strut is squeaking
heavily that screws to the coil, i have to spray it everyday with silicone,
please advise. Thank you.

Them: Thank you for your interest in Rancho products. The lift height is fixed
into place so you will not be able to increase it.On other applications
the lift is higher, but on your vehicle all we needed was 1.5 inches to get
the next tire size. The **** adjusts the valving of the shock. If you
turn the **** clockwise the shocks become firmer and if you turn the ****
counter clockwise then the shocks become softer.

Your squeaking noise has some thing to do with the installation of the
units. It could be that they are not torqued down correctly or that the
assembly is not put back together exactly like it was originally. We do
not change the upper mount so it should not be making any noise, if it was
not doing so before you installed the units.

You can pull the units out and disassemble them. You should be able to see
some sort of wear mark on the upper mount. This is probably the cause of
the noise.

It stinks that you are having problems. I hope everything is resolved soon.

They are correct about it being fixed height. The ***** on the shocks are for stiff/soft shock adjustment. It sounds like you had expectations of something different than they offer.

At least this way you can change the ridequalitydepending on if you are doing highway driving, off road driving ,etc. I bet you could disassemble the squeaky side and look for wear to see what has been rubbing. If you find nothing, clean it off well and put it back together carefully. Make sure all bolts are properly torqued. Don't give up on it yet.

Squeaking aside, what did you think of the ride? Does the components appear to be good quality? If it didn't have a squeak, would you be ready to recommend it to others?

I know two people with the QuikLift, one has an '06 Hemi QC 4x4 and the other has it installed on a '07 Chevy Silverado 2wd. I've been in the Chevy, and it rides no different than stock. No sound from it whatsoever. My hunting buddy in Ga. with the '06 tells me his makes no unusual noise either, is happy with it over-all, but was hoping it would have given him an extra inch more of lift. He kinda was led to believe that you could adjust it from 1.5-2.5". He said he'd have purchased it anyway, just would like to see it add a little more lift.

I was under the impression it was adjustable from 1.5 to 2.5 inches, obviously wrong. Anywho, took the control arm apart, took the strut out, re-torqued and cleaned everything up. So far so good, hopefully it wasjust an install error.I also adjusted it to the softest ride now that I know it has nothing to do with the height, I will say it is a difference in ride. When you crank the ***** to the stiffest, its basically back to stock ride. I feel better about having a safe 1.5" lift than a risky 2.5" spacer lift though.

That's great news.

Is it possible for you to take a few pictures from under the truck to show the new system?

Glad it worked out for you. Did it change your axle shaft angles? Any vibration issues in 4wd? And most importantly any before and after pics!!!!
