2008 ram quad cab stereo questions / issues
hey guys, i did a search on this but did not find all the answers. i just bought an '08 ram monster mile edition. it has the crappy stock stereo so i want to upgrade. first, is the any way to fit 6x9 speakers in the front or rear doors? i bought the eclipse speakers from a 2003 ram that belonged to a friend of mine and i am wondering if they will fit. there are two 6 inch round speakers, and two 6x9's. next, if i buy a stereo that is set up for sirius radio, will my one year free sirius transfer to the new system? most importantly, will the sattelite receiver from the stock stereo work with the new, aftermarket stereo? i just spent a ton of money on this truck and would really like to spend as little as possible on the upgrades. any help would be really appreciated.
PM Frenchy if no one chimes in soon. He knows his stuff.

6x9 speakers are in the front doors stock and i think the rears are 6" as well also...maybe a touch smaller but you could make em fit....as for the other stuff, i dunno....didnt have that fancy technology in my 04 ram lol
if the satelite radio connector won't plug into your aftermarket radio, i'm pretty sure you could do to an car audio store and buy an adaptor of some sort to make it work

yes as stated - 6x9 will fit for the fronts, but there is only like 3 1/2" mounting depth MAX, so you need a
shallow mount 6x9--i generally just make adapter plates and install good quality 6 1/2" in the front doors.
and 6 1/2" or 5 1/4" both fit for the rear doors.
the factory siruis is not compatible with aftermarket head units or vice versa for that matter. you will need to get the mathcing
aftermarket siruis tuner with your new headunit. for example if you get a new pioneer head unit, you will also need to get
a pioneer siruis tuner - sir-pnr1 or 2.
you will have much better control and quality out of the aftermarket equipment- so get both pieces and enjoy
you would have to call siruis about transfering the service , they might do it.

i will try to post some pics of it soon. you can probably google image search it and find a pic. mine is the black one. it came with giant green monster decals on the back portion of the bed. i pulled them off in the dealer parking lot. there were a couple other badges that had yellow and red in them so i pulled them too. i want the truck to be all black and chrome. i know a lot of guys would love to have that truck and think i am crazy for pulling the logos. i preserved all but the giant monster graphics from the back. they came off in pieces. i could not find a truck with leather for under 41 grand. this one came really well equipped for 37,500 with leather and they discounted it way down from that. sorry to the nascar fans that saw it go around dover speedway a few weeks ago and liked it as is. i wont save it as a show truck anyway. lifetime warranty = me driving the hell out of it. not a show truck. it is a user truck.
thanks for the help on the stereo stuff guys.

i have been installing professionally for 11 years. some one above said it right that the factory sirius will not integrate with an aftermarket stereo. its 6x9 in the front and 5.25 in the rear. i trimmed the rear holes to fit 6.5 components in my truck. better sound quality.
