Default 06,07,08 exhaust solution? what do you guys think?

ok guys, i know everyone is sick of these threads abotu exhaust but this one is different, i swear. so as some of you may have already read, i am planning the removal of the muffler and rear resonator. so i decided to go with a magnaflow 12278 and run the dual outlet side-by side to empty in front of th rear passenger tire. probably a $250 job including materials. **** now the point. so i just got off the phone shopping the price at a different magnaflow dealer/performance shop, and the owner of the shop says that the cat will provide all the backpressure you need and the resonators will provide all the quieting you will need. according to him, the magnaflow is basicly a straight through design so he says, why not LEAVE the rear resonator in and just simply remove the muffler and replace it with a stright piece of 3" pipe. has anyone even thought of trying this? he claims he is doing it on a chevy in a couple weeks and could let me know how it comes out. only problem is, i dont want to wait that long. besides, some other dude's chevy and my brand-new hemi are two totally different things. i am leaning towards just paying the 250 and doing it right rather than ghetto. i wanted to see what you guys thought though. i could have that straight pipe made up for a couple bucks and rock out if i knew it would work.

Your forgeting the most import first step....Remove the y pipe and go true dual ex, will cost more but its the best performance and economy going, removing the stock mufler and resonater will give a bit of a performance edge, but I doubt its worth it

it will still be less restrictive and better flowing than stock.. true duals would be great but the cost would be outragous... its no quick fix...
