I've posted it before and was ignored but I'll do it again anyway...
That plastic piece is there to increase airflow through the radiator. Without it, the path of least resistance means more air goes around the radiator instead of through it. In many cases it may not matter but if and when you do find out about it, it'll be at a very inopportune time to fix it. Remove that piece on an 80s Firebird/Camaro and you'll be overheating in any kind of normal driving.
It's a simple case of "what does everybody else have." If the trucks came without that, people would be scrambling to add it. Since it comes with one, people are itching to remove it.

John M. couldn't be more correct according to my dealer and my 'aftermarket tech'. In my photo, (I can take closer photos tomorrow if wanted) you can see the tow hooks above the bumper, the valance below the bumper and the front receiver hitch BELOW the valance. The front hitch is elevated to keep wet salt water gear out of the bed of the truck. Tow hooks if I am stupid on the sand.
If you have a tow package it is even more important to keep air flowing through the front grill.

The little rubber piece didn't come off too easy either...I had to pry on it a lot to get it off.

i really dont see how a piece that is behind the leading edge of the vehicle can force air into the radiator which is above that leading edge and further behind it. seems weird that forward flowing air at driving speeds would find its was 6-8 inches vertical when it can flow down 2 inches.......just my 2 cents

The air finds it easier to go up and through the radiator than down under the vehicle. Detroit learned years ago that a "chin spoiler" served two purposes: more air through the radiator and smoothes out the airflow under the vehicle. Check this out: looks a bit wicked, if you ask me.
