Default spark plugs look burnt

Just performed a spark plug change on the truck and noticed every one of them had a burnt look on the outside of the plugs. It started at the base of the ceramic and went up about a 1/8 inch. They were even all the way around each plug. These were the OEM Champions and this truck is all stock. Anyone know of this or what is? Never seen any plug like this before on any other vehicleI have owned.

They will look like that. It could mean it is running a little lean(correct if wrong), but just a little burnt is ok. They will always be black. Sounds normal to me!

Check this site out :- http://www.sparkplugs.com/sparkplug411.asp

If you look down the left hand side navigtor and look at "plug problems" that will help you.
They have full colour pictures of the plugs with differing problems.

I run LPG and my plugs have a red tinge to them instead of the nice coffee brown colour.

What you're describing sounds normal to me. Give us a little more info though, how many miles on the plugs, what kind of fuel or additives? Was the truck running fine when you changed the plugs?

p.s. Jimmy, nice rack!!!

No, like I said, it's on the outside of every plug on the porcelain...From the hex nut and up. It's a brownish color, not burnt blackish. Running 89 octane all the time, no mods to engine. Truckwas running fine, but wanted to get the plugs changed before the cold set in. truck has alittle over 28,000 miles on it.

It sounds normal like LoFlyersaid.
You should have a nice tan/coffee colour to the plug.
