Default 02-03 5.9 360 owners

I am getting ready to purchase a 5.9 for my 97 ram. I ofund a 360 from an 02 with only 28k miles for a realy good price. I was wondering if those of you that have them in your 02-03's could tell me if you also have the 46re tranny that came behind them in the second gen ram? I need to make sure everything is going to bolt up before I purchase it and begin the swap. Any and all help is much appreciated.

I have an 2002 1500 SLT QC SWB. It has the 360, and now a rebuilt 46RE transmission. they came with the truck. I am not sure of any differences were made even minor between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen rams. I am just telling you what I have. My first trans lost 2nd gear, I had the guys at Central Transmission do the rebuild, and they made it a little bit stronger than stock. I do have to change my fluids out soon though, My shifts started getting stiff from Park to reverse and drive, pretty much anywhere, even on the road when I put the gas pedal back on again. I do have new 4.56 gears, and a detroit locker that may be causing all this now, but it is time for it anyways, i am just about past the break in mileage. Hope I could help.

Thats a big help guys. I am going hopefully next week and gonna pickup the motor and can hopefully find time in the next couple of weeks to swap it in. Hopefully everything will bolt right up. Ohh and Asskmo try adjusting yout TV cable on your thorttle body. I had to do the same thing after I installed my 4.56's.

TV cable? I am not sure of what your talking about, I could find the throttle body, but am I looking for a screw to turn/adjust? and if so, which way? I am not a mechanic, but I can work my way around the engine, and know which certain parts are. I am more of a driver than a mechanic. anyways, thank you for the help, it is something i will look into.

IF you are facing the front of the truck it will be on the left side of the throttle body. attached to the throttle body. I beleive there was a diy link in the 2nd gen section of the forums for adjusting it.

That sounds like a bad throttle possitioning sensor. It is very common and will cost you about $30 to replace. It is on the driver side of your throttle body and held on by 2 torq screws takes about 10min to change.
