Wind / Road Noise ........ How quiet is your cab??
My truck has a ton of wind noise, especially around the windows... On windy days it drives me nuts... Dealer says they cant do anything about it... It feels like the door does not seal tight... My work truck is a gmc 3/4 ton and it seals so well that if the windows are up you have to close it pretty hard for it to close all the way..... Wish I could get my truck to seal like that.... Well ok thats just my .02
Mine in general decently quiet..there is a weird low bass noise when hitting bumps though...and a whistle from the driver door when going around 100mph
Well, here it is 7 months and 10,300 miles later and I am still annoyed with this problem. I took it back to the Dealer again today and got them to take a ride with me again. (I have really tried guys, but this is annoying as hell!) Right off the bat the guy (Asst. Service Mgr) heard the extreme noise coming from the drivers side. When we got back to the lot we were looking at several of the new trucks sitting there. One thing I never really paid attention to before was the tops of the doors coming up above the top of the cab. All of them were like this of course, but thats when I noticed that my drivers side doors are about 3/8 of an inch higher than the passenger side. Also the seals are different looking on the drivers side. On the pssgr side the seal actually squeezes up and out of the crack between the door and the area around the windshield. On the drivers side, the seal is below, not protruding above. The drivers side doors are so much higher than the other side it looks like a dang fin sticking up. I pointed this out to him and am wondering if this is where that bad "whirring" noise is coming from?? At 60+ MPH it sounds like an air hose being blown across the top of the door. It is a pretty good size "channel" running inside the door frame where it is at andsticking above the cab. Im probably not explaining this very well, but as I told the guy, it just dont seem right that one side of my truck has doors sticking that much higher above the cab than the other (quieter) side??? And why are the seals so much different?? He agreed that it was pretty bad mismatched ............. hell, Stevie Wonder could see it......... (laugh!)
Any rate, they kept it and gave me a loaner but he told me that he didnt know what they could really do but would check into it. Ive been driving Dodge Rams for a long time now and am pretty disappointed right now. Im wondering why the design has the doors sticking up at all like that instead of being tucked inside the cab frame??
Any rate, I guess I'll see what they come up with. I realize it could be worse ......... the loaner is a F150 Ford and the engine and road noise is horrible ................. but the doors dont sound like somebody's shooting an air hose across the top of it..........LOL!
