Default Wind / Road Noise ........ How quiet is your cab??

I have a question for your folks. I bought a new '07 Ram 1500 Quad back in July after a guy pulled head-on into me in my '97 1500. Right off the bat I noticed that I had a pretty noisy cab compared to my '97. The 2 identifiable noises was 1) a whistling wind noise that started about 45 mph and 2) pretty bad "whirring" and road noise coming from the drivers door.
They kept it 9 days and when I got it back they seem to have fixed the "whistling" noise. They said it was actually coming from around one of the heater vents (??) But the road / wind noise coming from around the drivers door is still there. They told me they "adjusted" the doorbut would probably not be able to get rid of all of it. Best I can tell there was no change at all. Now I admit Im a pretty picky guy when it comes to my stuff, but for over $30k I would expect it to at least be as quiet in the cab as my old truck that I drove for 10 years. Dont get me wrong, I like my Dodge, but am wondering if anybody else has this issue? Thanks in advance for your time!

It may not be the door seal. I had an 04 1500 with the same thing (in my opinion anyway...I got that OCD gene as well!) and started looking at the windshield where it meets the a-pillar on the driver's side. The only thing I noticed is there is more of a "cup" style a-pillar outside the truck where the windshield is and that kinda traps the air as it blows across the windshield making noise. Make sense? Dunno if it's true. It quieted down a little when I installed vent visors on the doors.

I sold my 04 1500 for an 02 2500 CTD. It's hard buying used with OCD...got a lotta work to do! Good luck!

If you are serious about tracking down wind/part/noises
on your vehicle
plugging in a microphone into a laptop computer
and shielding the microphone so that it only picks up noise in one direction
can really work.

Have a friend either drive or watch the computer.

There are even free programs like Audacity that analyse the noise
and break it down to high frequency whistles and low frequency drones.

You can 'zero in' on the sources of noise by starting at low frequencies
and gradually going to high frequencies...which only travel short distances.

You can even find hidden water leaks in your house or business this way.

i had the same problem. i got a trick off of the trucks show on power block. i took my door panel off rolled window down put my knee on the door(inside) and pulled on the "pillar"? the top part of the door and it bends it slightly. seems hillbilly but it works amazing. now my cab is as quiet as my new 300

They are all noisy now for some reason.... My 06 has allot more roadnoise and wind noise then any of my previous Rams.....

My Dealer even went as far as to change all 4 of my tires from the GoodYear to Michellins when I bought it to get rid of all the noise....it helped some but it's still there.

I wish you luck with that

One surprise when fitting wheeler style
vortex generators behind the side windows
was that the truck cab got quieter.

When fitting tiny vortex generators on the outside mirrors
I also think I could detect a reduction in noise too.

I agree, the Ram is noisy inside. I notice much more normal road and wind noise than I did in my 04 Avalanche I traded in on it. No whistling or anything, it's just louder.
