Baby Brother!!!

Baby Brother!!!
Well, I had finally had enough of my little Hyundai daily driver! Don't get me wrong, great little car, I bought it from my parents when my step-father suffered a stroke. He bought it new in '01 and I got it from him in Nov. '05. Only warranty repair was for an exhaust leak around the manifold. Other than that just regular tune-ups & wear stuff. 35-38 mpgs. to boot, however, for those of you who have never seen me, I'm 6'3" and 270 lbs., it was getting old climbing in & outta that thing. Not to mention I've been finding myself taking the truck to work & on errands because the car was such a pain. So what's the sense in having it?
So, I go out to find a compromise, maybe a CRV or something. More room, but still very good economy. Yea, right! I stepped into a steal on a '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Absolute mint condition, 61k miles on it, and I got the lady down toalmost $6000 under KBB price.
So, now I have the truck, and a 4.7L High Output V8 4x4 for my daily driver...[sm=wtf.gif]

I was waiting for that, L&R!!!! Luckily, with the Overland Edition, there's not a whole lot to you need to do for performance. It's 265 HP stock, as it has an upgraded cam, springs, etc. from the standard 4.7. QuadraDrive 4WD with lockers in the rear dana 44 & front dana 30 axles. Supposed to be able to put 100% power to a single wheel with traction if needed! Hell, if not for the ground clearance difference, it's more off road worthy than my truck!!!
Not gonna do much, it has what looks to be brand new BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires (245/70/17's). I already did a set of Ventshades (needed here in sunny, Fla.) and a drop in K&N. Exhaust is Mopar, but looks too new to be the original, when it goes, I'll get a good kit (maybe Magnaflow) & weld it on in the driveway. It has the Infinity 100 watt system with 10 CD changer and reads MP3's & WMA'son the CD deck in the dash, so I don't need to do a thing with sound.
Besides, I still got an SCT tuner, cam, springs, retainers & damper to get for the truck,it's not finished yet!!!

Yea, HYellow, KBB is $16,900. It was owned by a couple about 30 miles from me. They had a big camper & it was the tow behind (so I'm really not sure how much of the 61K on the odometer is actual engine running miles). They got divorced, he got camper, she got house & Jeep. She already has a Caddy, so she put the Jeep up for sale. Only thing wrong with it is the dual zone heater doesn't work ( a common problem, my old '02 Jeep GC that was the wife's daily driver had the same problem after we got divorced and she took the Jeep. I was stupid enough to take about 10 hours and tear the dash out to get to the stupid little heater door with the broke pin & fix it for her. She ONLY calls when she wants something!) She figured to ask $15,500 but took $1000 off because of the heater not functioning and she got a quote of $900 to fix it ($125 part, a ton of labor). So now she's got it in the paper for $14,500 when I see it, she doesn't put year, engine or 2wd/4wd in the add, so I'm thinking "yea, I could live with a nice, fuel efficient 4.0L I6 2wd Laredo for my daily driver".
So anyway, to make a long story short, I get there see that it's a V8, 4x4 and tell her sorry, but it's a bit too much vehicle for me with gas going over $3 and my other vehicle being a lifted 4x4. She acts like, if I don't buy it, nobody else will EVER come along. (I think the price of gas got her worried). So she asks what I was looking to spend, and Isay "I'm trying to stay under $10,000, and I knowyour Jeep is worth way more than that." So she asks if she comes down to $12,500 if it would be within my budget. I say I might be able to scrape up $11,000, but then there is still the issue of fuel economy. She says, "how about $11,500, that's $3000 lower than what I got it in the paper for, that'll buy a lot of gas." So I say, "how about splitting the difference at $11,250?" and she says "sold"!
So I get this thing for about $5700 off KBB retail, mint condition, and I have to fix the heater. Best thing is, I already found a kit online to fix the heater door for about $120 and this kit can be installed by just taking out the glove box, and 30-45 minutes labor!
