I thought the 4.7 was revised this year???
I dunno I was hoping it'd be in the 08's because who knows what the new 09's will be. I have a bad feeling they are just gonna be pug fugly and I really wanted something with good power and really like the 4.7 six speed. o well I'll just have to wait and hope for the best in 09
I picked up the 2008 Ram brochure from my dealer. An entire page is devoted to the revised 4.7 V-8. It is rated at 310HP, 330 lb-ft. of torque. and is installed in the 2008 models. My dealer cautioned me that the public Dodge web site has several errors. To be sure of the combinations you may want have your dealer run it through the dealer accessible web site. I am looking to order a quad-cab with the new 4.7 V-8 for the flex fuel capability.[sm=violin.gif]

I'm just worried because every single vehicle that I like that has been remade in the past few years has absolutely sucked. for example the Jeep wrangler. hemi if you get a chance sock the guys that designed that pos in the nuts for me. I mean honestly 3.8v6???? commeeeee onnnnnnn
actually...the new wrangler could have the new 4.0L V6 but they used the 3.8 to cut down on weight over the 4.0L....and prolly shouldnt say anything, but I'm hearing that a wrangler with a V8 is being discussed
i've heard that as well from what I heard they nixed the hemi project because apparently a hemi was gnna go in it. I'd like a hemi but i'd be plenty happy with a 4.7L whether it be the one that is upgraded or the current one. that would haul butt in a wrangler I think. don't get me wrong there are some things I like about it but that 3.8 v6 with peak torque at like 5k rpms just dont' get it done for me.
If you look at the info on the Dodge website regarding the 4.7 it does indeed give the same 230 HP/300ft-pounds info that has been associated with the 4.7 for several years. But if you look at the engine performance chart that accompanies that information you can quickly see that the chart reflects a very different level of performance. The chart demonstrates HP to pass above the 300 horsepower level at approximately 5300 rpm. Its apparent that when Dodge updated the information regarding the new 4.7 FF they dropped the ball and inserted old data. Yes the '08 4.7 FF does produce slightly better than 300 horses. Dodge's brochures indicate the new 4.7 is more powerful, gets better gas milage, and is quieter than the previous 4.7 and in addition allows you to burn regular or E85. Thats for the '08's and presumably '09's as well.
Sir
The 4.7L was revised, I own a new 2008 Dodge Big Horn Edition traded it in on my old 2006 SL model 4.7L. The new 4.7L does have 310HP and 330LBS of torque. I can tell a big difference from the 2006 model it more responsive, is better on fuel economy. I get around 19 to 20 mpg on the HWY when I am on cruise around 65mph. So yes they did change it. To be honest I owned a hemi for a short time and I will tell you that new 4.7 will keep up with the 03- current hemi for now until the 2009 version comes out. I like the 4.7L it gets just as much gas milage as the hemi if not more and doesnt cost near as much to fill up because with the 4.7L you use 87 Oct and the Hemi only runs well on the 89 Oct which cost more at the pump.
