2X what Swilson97 posted. I also have an '08 4.7, no question its the new "tweaked" 310hp 4.7, runs great and is a kick to drive with the 6speed manual. The 5.7's get the upgrade in '09.

the post is valuable
in that many bargain 2008 Rams
are still on dealership lots
but the savy Ram buyer
should be absolutely sure
there is a dual sparkplug 4.7V8
under the hood
and not the older engine
with less torque and worse fuel economy

Allpar has a very good write up on the 4.7, going back to its beginnings and bringing you up to date with the tweaks for '08, its well worth the time if you're at all interested in the 4.7.

It would be interesting
if a 2007 Ram with the old design single sparkplug 4.7
and a 2008 with the new dual plug 4.7
would get together on a highway at the same speed
and weather conditions
and call each other on cell phones
reset the trip computers at the same time
and see what the MPG differences are
over a few miles

or someone thinking about buying
one of the bargain priced 2008 Rams with the new 4.7
could have a friend/spouse follow behind them on a test drive
with their older 4.7 Ram
and do the same comparison
