Before you start tearing stuff apart, get a GOOD quality radiator flush and follow the instructions to the letter. Put fresh coolant in it, burp the system good, then get out on the highway for a hard run, see if it still overheats---yours wouldn't be the first that this has happened to. If it still overheats, see if you can get your hands on an infrared temp gun, bring the engine up to full temp and then check the radiator for hot/cold spots. The temps should very close to the same all over the face of the rad.

I wish I could help you on that part..The next time you get your truck to reach operating temp feel the radiator for hot and cold spots, and let me know your findings. Hows the catalytic converter is it clogged? Mine was and that cured the overheating problem I had.

Nope.

It's gonna need a radiator. Unlike older cars, newer vehicles are engineered with production cost being prioirty one. The manufacturer will cut costs wherever possible, including using less material to build a radiator. The radiators in most newer vehicles need to be working very near 100% efficiency to cool the engine on hot days under heavy load. This means that it doesn't take much restrictive corrosion to make the radiator inefficient. Interstate driving at high speeds is where the problem will first present, as the engine is under a constant load. Doesn't matter how much airflow you're getting if the coolant can't flow properly.

Edit. I assumed you checked, but just in case: Make sure you don't have a bunch of leaves or other debris between the radiator and condenser, blocking air flow.
