Default De-Badging Questions?

I have a 2008 Ram Mega Cab and it has theses ugly SXT stickers on the bed sides. I have been thinking of removing them but I a little scared of damaging the finish. If this goes well I'm thinkingI maydebadging some more.

Has anyone here done this or have some insight on it. Are there post behind some badges that need to be filled in? Any info would be great.

Thanks
B

I worked in a body shop doing paint, you got two options. An eraser wheel, and a heat gun. The eraser wheel it big eraser that attaches to a phenmatic grinder and uses friction to rub thedecal off. You need to be careful with it because you can burn your clear coat. The heat gun will melt the glue holding the decals, use a plastic scraper to try and get it off while holding the heat gun over it. Try the heat gun first, it should work for you. Good luck man.

a popular method is to heat the badges and using fishing line to peel the badge off.. when thats done use goof off to get the stuff off....

Do a search on de-badging. There are many post's talking about fish string and goo remover. Just make sure this is something you really want to do. Some people like the look while others don't. Good luck. Red

The debadging will be easy. Fish string and goof off on a warm day. Those SXT decals though are another thing. I would grab a chair and start peeling with my finger nails and have alot of patience. Those things are either going to come off real easy or hard as hell. There isn't going to be any in between on those. After you get off what you can, then use the goof off to get the residue off. Good Luck.

Just finished mine today. All I used was dental floss to take the emblems off and the rest with my fingers and 3m adhesive remover. Washed and waxed the area and all is good.

Isnt he talking about actual stickers? I don't remember any badges on the bed sides. If this is the case, the line trick wouldnt work...

There aren't any on the bedsides. From actual work with decals, heat is one the fastest way to get them off. Been there and done it, plus with heat there is very little residue left behind.

+1 to that. A basic hairdryer also works.....I used an old plastic credit card. Goo-Gone also is a very good product. Cheap and effective.
