Default 2005 or 2006?

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Laramie SB 4x4 Hemi, as fully loaded as possible. I've been looking at a few in my area, and I'm trying to decide between an '05 and an '06.

I did some searching in these forums to help my decision and the best info I could find was a debate on whether the '06 is as quick as the '05. Having driven both, similarly equipped, I can say the '05 definitely had a bit more "neck snapping" going on when I goosed it. It could be the throttle programming, as one user pointed out. Does anyone have any hard 0-60 times or quarter mile times to truly compare?

I definitely prefer the styling and interior design of the '06, though, even if it doesn't feel as quick.

All other things being equal, should I get an '05 or an '06?

(Also, at the risk of posting this question in the incorrect forum, the best trucks I can find aren't perfect, so please give me a shout if yours is for sale and not too far from New Brunswick, Canada.)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Pierre

th 06 has more of a ridgid frame than the 05. MDS is a consideration as well. I personally like the 06 over the 05 on looks, but im biased on that one, lol.

I'm aware of the MDS, but I see some debate about its effectiveness in saving fuel. It must add a fair bit of complexity. People who've installed exhausts seem to complain about the noise. Any other pros or cons?

Everything!

But seriously, is one better suited than the other for particular tasks?

They both have there pros and cons. I would just get the one with lowest miles, and the best deal.

I, for one, am not a fan of MDS in a truck, especially a 4x4. Just me though, I don't give a hoot about gas mileage, if I did, I'd have bought a Toyota Hybrid. My Hemi has 8 cylinders and I want them working, all the time. I also like the torsion bar setup in the pre-06's, although I got a suspension lift and didn't do it, you can crank 'em up a bit for a "free" level kit and fit bigger meats.
The '06 IS a newer design though, and as such, one would think would have technological advantages, it's just that I kinda like the way the '05 is set up...
