Started work on the computer for my truck..
Hopefully I'll have pics of the computer mounted by the end of the week. I'm putting the computer in the storage compartment under the back seat. Then I just have a VGA extension to the dash, and a USB extension to a hub in the dash. The touch screen, GPS receiver, and DVD drive will all hook into the USB hub.... Power comes from a direct cable to the battery, and a relay for ignition signal.
What about cooling? are you going to cut custom vent holes in the storage compartment? I would assume the pc would get warm under the seat on a warm day or long road trip....
this is awesome! keep them pictures coming! i too would like to install this into my truck...i like the streets view in navigation mode much better than the crappy radio/nav unit i have in mine. Keep up the good work!
woo hoo!!!! I FINALLY got emailed a tracking number for the power supply (ordered it almost 2 weeks ago now).... It's schelduled to be delivered on the 30th... Maybe I can buckle down and get my bezel finished at least to the point where I can prime that baby! The power supply was the next-to-last thing on my list... I still need to buy a DVD drive, but not exactly sure where I'm going to put it yet.... I'm hoping it will fit in the storage space below the heating/air controls.... Ugh, I'm ready to get off work so I can do some real work!!! lol...

And what GPS tuner did you purchase?
I have been planning on doing this myself.
My only problem with all of the small monitors I have seen is you cannot get a digital connection on the monitor. As soon as I find a Touch screen monitor with a DVI input I will do it.
Also, make sure if you are going to extend a DB15 monitor cable that you just get one cable and do not use an extension. You may get shadowing with the extension. One solid cable is the best way to keep the signal strong. Otherwise you will have to use a range extender or a KVM switch to get the video cable to work with that length of cable.
