Chrysler has a repair kit for the c-clips out now it's like 15.00$ that is the way i would going before i change the housing. It wouldn't be a bad idea when your in there to change the carrier bearings. I have one i'm working on right now the whole job takes about 3 hours not a big deal.

I just changed the rear differential gear lube and found two clips just like the clips found in the first post. The reason I change the lube is because of the loud noise the limited slip (trac lok LSD) system was makingwhile making sharpturns. Changing the lube and adding 4oz of the LSD additive did take the nosie completly away but I found those clips during the lube change. I found a few links on installation of LSD.

Im not looking forward to overhauling the differential. Im hoping the lube change will buy some time. Is the overhaul relatively easy? How many c-clips are therein the rear diff system?

well, it all depends on how long the clip has been broken and how many shavings you find. when i changed mine, there was enough to fill a small coffee cup. mine was under warranty so i paid 100 for a $3500 repair. that carrier bearing in mine was almost eaten clean thru. the fluid change may buy time, it may not, if the clip broke, not came out as a whole, it will eat into the bearing, and eventually the whole diff will fail. expensive thing to wait on. take care of it now if at all possible
