Lift kit, wheels, and tires...
i have a 2007 Ram 1500 SLT, 2WD, 1/2 ton truck that i was looking to lift and put wheels and tires on. i stopped by a 4x4 parts in austin, tx and found out that pretty much my only option was a fabtech 6" lift. a 6" is a little much for what i was looking for. i asked about the 2" leveling kit and the guy mentioned some problems they had with it. i am not educated on the language but it had something to do with an A bar in front and how it was coming down on something. so i went to another custom shop and they said that they could do a tough country leveling kit with a 3" body lift and that there wouldn't be any problems there.
i am not educated in all of this, i basically just want the nice beefy look without going over the top.
any help here would be much appreciated. thanks.

Instead of combining a level kit and a body lift which is going to result in a fairly rough ride, why don't you just get a 4" suspension kit. Will give you a nice modest lift, a level stance and a lot better ride than a body lift. There are a couple available for your '07 4x2. Here is one:

that is perfect size in what i am looking for. modest was a great description. would i run into any problems with that kind of kit? also, why is it that the places that i received quotes from tell me that my only option is the 6" lift? so if i buy this kit, who installs it for me? i definitely don't have the skills to do it. can i bring it up to them and have them install it?
i found a place that would put on a 2" leveling kit on my 07 1500 2WD with some modifications. i explained to them that this would be just a look thing and that i would not be doing any type of off-roading or prerunning. he said that he could do it with some modifications but to make sure that i don't off-road it or anything. is this a good idea?
any time the guy tells you he's going to modify it, but NOT to offroad it or anything, he's not doing a quality job.
