Default excessive fluid(water) drainage

Hey folks, I noticed this after noon while getting into my truck that there was what looked like a water spot under my truck. My truck hadn't been running for almost 9 hours, so it wasn't A/C drainage. I got home and there was a dotted fluid trail leading into my driveway. I looked under the front passenger area and fairly steady drip was going. The fluid looks like water(no odor or color). I've never seen such drippage from underneath before. Also I noticed in the engine bay the open pipe that sticks out of the firewall on the passenger side was dripping fluid fairly well. It was enough to soak 3 rags that I laid down on my driveway. Is this normal drainage? Can some one just tell me what is going on? Should I be concerned?

Hi exRX8,
Welcome to da forums.

No that ain't normal.
Could you get a picture of the open pipe you speak of?

My wife had a Sundance once that the vent drain would get clogged with normal debris (leaves, insects, etc) It would back up and leak into the passenger floor board. After I would unclog it would drip for what seemed like 10 minutes from the firewall.

That was a common problem with Chrysler products all through the '60s and '70s. The A/C drain line would clog causing the condensation to drain back into the car. That sounds like what you have there, unless you hadn't been running the air conditioner for several days. Do you recall if it collected the "usual" amount of drips after you parked it?

I took it in today and the dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong. They blew out the A/C line, and said it didn't appear to be clogged. Neither of us found water on the interior of the car. They said that even though I hadn't run the A/C, running the defrost (which I have been)will show drainage also. The truck is running great, I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. Baltech, I do have a sunroof so where do the drain tubes empty?

Defrost runs the AC compressor to get dehumidified air even though it doesn't light the AC indicator. That irks some people when they can't disable it so they decided we'd be better off not seeing it lit.
