Default 07 1500 with 2500 springs

I'm new to this forum and I have a 07 1500 4 door 4x4 and want to put 2500 springs in the front to hold the weight of a plow. Has any one done or heard of this and how did it work out.

Why not just get a lighter plow? they do make fiberglass ones that are sumwhat durable... or are you tryin to do commerecial plowing?

It's not really the springs that are the problem. The front end components such as the A-arms are not heavy duty enough to support a heavy plow. I have heard of people actually bending their A-arms in half after using a plow on a 1500.

However, there is a kit you can buy which strengthens the front for the use of a plow, but I don't see that as being a very good idea if you are going to get rid of your rig next season.

Unless you have a mega cab 1500, you cannot run 2500 springs in the front of a 1500; the standard 1500 chassis uses torsion bars and the 2500 chassis uses coil springs.

Also, the front end components of a 1500 are not designed to handle the loads of a snow plow; you'll wear out/break something in short order, especially with a heavy Fisher plow. On top of that, if that Fisher has the mounting brackets for a 2500 series dodge, it won't fit the 1500.

2 different front end set ups... the only way you could do anything about the coils is by getting something custom done...

Sorry to burst your bubble.. but starting in 06 the 1500 do use the coil springs.. tho not the same strength.....but they use coils nonetheless.....
