I am looking into buying a new truck for snow removal, towing, and general untility. Before I look at the new Rams what are some of the problems with this truck?

 

Just turned 11K on mine. No problems as of yet.

 

I have 17k on mine and have not had any problems but I have heard there is a TSB for the hemi concerning broken valve springs.

 

My owners manual says "Do not use Dodge Ram 1500 models for snowplow applications" becaues the airbag may deploy. I bet the salesman won't offer that information unless you ask. Wouldn't that be nice, buy a truck to plow snow and then later find out that it can't do it. The manual has about two pages of warnings regaurding this and I dont want to type the whole thing.

 

I've got over 24K on my 2003 Hemi, and I've had two problems, both covered by warranty:
1) Windshield washer pump didn't work when it was new.
2) Digital odometer display went south- they had to replace they whole cluster for that one.
I've used mine for both plowing and trailer towing, and haven't had any issues with either so far.

do you have a 1500 or 2500 ?

 

It's a 2500, Quad cab, 4x4.

 

I have had some problems,I have a 2003 1500 Ram with Hemi.Have a traction lock rear diff @ it is a common problem for theclutch pack retainer clips to break,have an annoying lifter tick which still have no fix for,the serpintine belt starts to howl after getting glazed on the backside from the water pump pulley.Also had the eng shutting off when comming to a stop accasionally-the ecm was updated and fixed that but took away 2 m/g at same time.Have had a code come up that was caused from the fuel cap losing its seal-this is a common fault as well
These are some of the problems that have arison but love the truck-was a GM truck fan till bought my first dodge-96 dodge 1500 and then bought the 2003 and this truck is great.

 

got 18K on my '03 ram 4x4 hemi. only problem was a sensor that kept turning the check engine light on at about 500 miles. dealer fixed it no problems since. towed a 6500 lb trailer to MN last summer also.

 

Great forum to watch - I just got my 1500 QC and would like to know about things people have experienced. My buddy Jimmy has an '03 2500 Quad and he does ALOT of plowing. He loves his truck and says he has not had one thing go wrong...
