Default Your thoughts on this CAI?

I've often read numerous posts on Cold Air Intakes. So when i came across this, i thought i would post on here and get your opinions.

True Flow air intake systems are a unique departure from traditional air intake systems. The factory air box is left intact keeping the airflow cooler while protecting the filter from debris and moisture. The factory filter is replaced with one of our foam, high flow, lifetime filters. Finally we eliminate the factory air tube, which can have restrictive mufflers or resonators and replace them with our high flow, powder coated mandrel tubes and reinforced silicone couplers to maximize velocity.

True Flow kits are easy to install and maintain. Each kit contains the necessary hardware required to install, (like our custom fiberglass reinforced silicone couplers and stainless steel worm clamps). No modifications are needed, and all factory breathers, sensors and hoses are left intact.

With True Flow’s Sealed Air Intake You Get:
• Gains of up to 19 horse power and 37 foot pounds of torque
• Increased air flow by as much as 25 percent
• Awesome engine protection with True Flow’s Premium Air Filter
• Great looks and sound
• Quick and Easy Install
• Power and Efficiency

Junk

You can prove it is junk yourself
by measuring the IAT and MAP sensors
at full throttle and high rpm
before and after.

And a further test to prove that it is junk
is to put about 5000-10000 miles on both the stock filter and the Tru-fraud
then test...for 'real world' results
to show that the aftermarket filter clogs up faster.

I have asked him a couple of times in a few other threads what he drives and what he has done but I still don't know. Every single post he has is information only. It is almost like he is a computer. I donlt even know what he does for a living. Now if I found out that he is a automotive engineer with 20 yrs of expereince, then I might take his comments to heart, but if you walk into any Autozone, they have a filter test sitting right on there counter top that shows aftermarket filters flow better than paper filters by using a simple fan and ping pong ball.

You need to get one soon if that's the one you want, I read an article on them while sitting in the chiropractor's office the other day (he's a real car nut, has a Porsche and a Viper - has learned to really gouge insurance companies, when I had insurance through my wife he billed $230 a visit, now that I am divorced without bennies, he hits me for $35 cash for the same thing! [:@])
Anyway, the article did a review of the True Flow XDI (true CAI) and gave it a great write up. In it they said that because of the much better gains of the XDI, they were discontinuing the sealed air intake where you use your factory air box.

If you believe what you read in the popular auto magazines,
try to find someone who used to work for an auto magazine
{someone who now gets a paycheck from somewhere else}
and ask them about the cold air intake articles,
about CAI advertising in the magazine,
and about how much a magazine author gets paid
as a 'rental' for the use of the vehicle
that the cold air intake is tested on
...it will be an interesting talk.

If you think the radio stations play the songs you the listener want to hear,
I also suggest you talk to a former disc jockey
about 'payola' in the radio industry
...or you can just Google
'radio payola legal settlement'
or 'independent music promoters'

A few years ago the movie 'Oh Brother, Where art Thou?'
had a country music soundtrack that became the top selling Country CD
yet very few radio stations would play songs from that movie
and would even refuse to play request songs from people who would telephone in.

Ever wonder why this was?

Because the Coen brothers who owned the music soundtrack rights
refused to pay bribes to
'independent music promoters'
who would then pass part of those bribes on
to the radio station managers & disc jockeys.

Why do CAI companies get glowing reviews in most magazines?
Because they heavily advertise in those magazines.

Why do the 'new out of box' CAI
always show horsepower gains compared to the
'used for thousands of miles' stock paper filter?

Because before the dyno test the used paper filter equipped vehicle is run behind another vehicle on dusty dirt roads until it is clogged up enough to show 18 to 24 inches of water restriction.

NYPANAMA, I have a true flow and I love it, personally I think it is about the best intake out there. As for HankL, I would prefer my filter to get clogged up sooner than other filter brands, that means it is working properly. I have no problem cleaning my filter every 1-2 months anyways. Hell I do it anyways since I live in a desert. Air filters just get nasty fast here.
