2008 RAM - Radio Help! Stupid Bezel?
RRRR- how the he11 do you get the bezel off... I read in one post to grab it and yank... but yikes is that correct?
I have a 2008 1500 5.7 Laramie. it has the wood grain bezel.
I have a RAQ radio that came out of my wife's jeep that I want to put in, but can't seem to figure out what the steps are to removing the bezel. I know it is one large piece but I am not sure where to start.
does anyone have the service manual, or at least the page that describes this? maybe some pics of removing theirs, I also believe it is the same as the 07?
thanks
Jason

RE: 2008 RAM - Radio Help! Stupid Bezel?
There is a thread in dieseltruckresource that covers your question. Basically, if I can remember, you work you way from the console up. Remove the console/drink holder (screws under rubber drink holder), then remove the screws that hold the intermdiate cover under the radio ac controls and remove it. You will find 2 screws that hold the bottum of the radio/ac bezel. Once they are removed, you can pull the radio bezel out. It's tight and will feel like it will break. Just don't pull so hard that when it comes loose you don't damge the wiring for the ac/heater controls. I swapped rdios on my '06 this way. I didn't replace the 2 screws on the bottum of the bezel when I put it back. That way I could pop off the bezel without dismantling half the dash.

Funny thing is: I have looked for those screws and cant find them.
I can see where they might have been, but what is there now is more like a molded plastic clip. It is almost like you need a special tool?
you know this is my new baby and I don't want to hurt her....

First you need to fold the cupholders in the down position. If you look above teh cupholders the the corners, you should feel the screws. Then use a #2 philips head screwdriver to remove them, they are at a slight angle. After the 2 screws are out, I like to pull from the cluster side, cause you can get a better grip, but you do just pull it right off.
Most of the clips will stay on the panel. (I have removed this dash panel over 100 times and have never broken 1, so you should have no problems.)Pull the shift toward you to till the panel down so you can have it out of your way. Now put in your new radio and just repeat step to put it all back together.
