RE: 2006 4X4 Struts replacements
From reading what other guys are doing as far as installing their spacer lifts, it should only take you a few hours, and nothing real difficult. If the Quick Lift comes assembeld (spring already mounted in the strut) it should be easy. The Rancho Quick Lift comes with new struts and springs, correct? Just follow the instructions rancho provides. I think all you have to do is unbolt the upper ball joint from the spindle which will allow plenty of droop to remove stock strut/spring and re-install the quicklift strut/spring. One step that some have mentioned eases this process is to remove the caliper and tie it back otherwise the brake line may become a limiting strap preventing enough droop for the job! If the Quick Lift is un-assemebeld, you will need a coil spring compressor to mount it up to the strut. Once the spring is mounted to the strut you are good to go. Post some pics and details about howe the ride has changed. I am lookiing for something to make my truck, 06 1500 4x4quad,ride more like a truck and not the car that it currently does.

Changing struts on ram 1500
If you have to take the struts off the truck, sell the truck and buy a new one! The lower strut bolts don't come out, period! I took mine to a local shop I have used for years and they could not get the bolts out. I'm considering trading it in on a new truck just for that reason.

I know this is an old thread, but I cannot pass up the chance to talk about the stupid lower strut mount bolt! That one simple bolt turns an hour job into a nightmare. My truck took the 50ton press to move it, and the sawz-all to get the control arm off the truck, good thing my labour is cheap...but I certainly could not trade a truck off because I couldn't get a bolt out!

I soaked mine in penetrating oil for days before trying to get the bolt out but it didn't do any good. I used my impact driver and a 2 foot breaker bar. This is just a lousy design by Dodge that we all have to live with. The Chiltons book I got only talks about changing shocks; not struts. My remark about selling your truck was mostly out of frustration and not to be taken seriously. I love my truck and it has always done me right. This is just something that I am really pissed off at Dodge for doing to us. I think Dodge should offer a recall on this or at least come up with a replacement bushing for that lower strut bolt bushing.
