Default alarm install prices

i have a remote start alarm from audiovox that hasa 2 way pager and all that. so i've been looking around to get put in my 07 quadcab....can't find a good place. called cartoys and they said it would be 300 dollars just for the install, plus 100 for a bypass module that would bypass the keyless entry already on the stokc key plus another 100 to put that in and program it......

is it just me or does that sound like complete bull****? thats like 500 dollars to put in this alarm. just to put it in.

with the part and labor in that truck $400 is about right. the problem with the '06+trucks is it uses the same wire for the accessory and 2nd start with different resistances for each. so the installer has to interface this system using relays and resistors. plus the bypass piece is still needed to get around the factory antitheft chip that is in the key. this is one of the more complicated installs. if it's not done correctly it will have starting issues and various systems in the truck won't operate properly. i've seen resistors placed incorrectly that caused the shift selector to dissapear and the truck to stay running when the key is removed!
so to say it simply, take it to a professional you trust

seximexi, first of all, I hope you are not a guy calling yourself sexy mexican, second its your truck and you have the right to do whatever you want to it. If you are not technically inclined or cant do your own dash stereo, then yes take it to a "professional". Yes that 17 year old kid that can do it for $400. If not try it yourself, just read the instructions well. If you follow the instructions, nothing should go wrong. Even those "professionals" follow the instructions, the have to read the wiring diagrams for your truck and see what wire goes with what. The hardest thing for me was to cut the ignition wire for the kill switch. Look at it this way, if you fail, you can always take it to the "professional" to finish it.

indeed i am a guy calling myself a sexy mexican. whats up.

i'm a pretty hands on guy, i built my honda from the bottom up. it was wrecked in feb. i can fgure things out pretty well, the problem is, i dont have wire diagrams and i only get tuesdays and thursdays off. if it was summeri could start on putting the alarm in and take my time, and just take the bike to work but its cold outside. if i cut the ignition or start on this install i dont want to drive 20 miles with the guts hanging out in my truck. and it being a new truck, id rather have someone else that knows what theyre doing already professionally do it. i just didnt think it would be this involved.

i think what will ultimately happen is that i will attempt it myself, and either i will figure it out and things will be awesome, or i will give up and dish out 400 dollars to have it done.
