Let's see... Open the door to the Chevy. Oh, that's right. I can't, 'cause the linkage from the outside handle to the latch is broken. AGAIN, and again, and again, and again... Wiggle in the passenger side (which later failed, too). Twist the key -- NOTHING. Oh, yeah, gotta go wiggle the battery terminal cable. New brakes at 13K, new tires at 16K. The bolts holding the alternator to the block broke, and the serpentine belt fell off. After A WEEK in the shop, new alternator bolts and newbelt. Same thing happened exactly a month later, but this time the belt crushed ALL the accessory mounting brackets -- two days in the shop. Workhorse? Not even close. Load up the bed with stuff for work and the air conditioner drained into the cab! A workhorse is a truck that goes all day, every day with routine maintenance. My Chevy was babied and it was a complete POS. My Ford, my Nissan, and all four Dodges work all day every day. GM doesn't even understand the concept of "work truck". My rentals while that POS Chevy lounged in the shop? An Escort wagon. If the Chevy was a airplane, it would've been a "hangar queen".
I have owned 3 chevy trucks. 2500 crewcab 4X4, 1500hd crewcab 4X4, and currently a suburban. I have owned 2 dodge. 00 ram 1500 4X4, a currently a 06 ram 1500 4X4. The 2000 ram was a tough truck But it lacked power and the transmission shifted hard anytime there was a slight hill. The 2006 ram I have now is junk. Dodge cheapened it up compared to the 2000. The interior is cheap plastic that cracks, the seats are hard and stain easy, and now you have to pay a lot more for the normal standard options. A SLT used to have fog lights, back tinted windowand a hitch standard. Not any more. I just got my 06 ram back from the shop (24000 miles) back window was leaking, 2 shocks leaking, front wheel bearing recall, andtransmission shifts hard into drive(which Dodge is know for bad transmissions). This Dodge has more power than the older one but the transmission still downshifts hard going up a hill when it is not needed. Dodge needs the lifetime warranty on the newer trucks to keep its sales up.
I do not know much about the newer chevy trucks but the 07 and older were great trucks. I believe the Dodges look better though. I have never had one problem with any the chevy trucks (I put on at least 60000 miles on all if them). You pay for what you get. Chevy had a better ride and more standard/betteroptions. I would buy a chevy again if I could go back. Look at all of the posts here with people having problems and then go to a chevy forum and compare them. There will eventually be an occasional problem here and there but when there is a trend with a lot of people having the same problems you are I would have to say it is a poorly built truck. All of the problems I have are the same problems other people have.I understand any truck could turn out to be a lemon or a truck with no problems but all of the newer rams are having all of the same issues depending on which year you get. I hate to be so negative but I am only stating the facts. I have owned chevys, fords and dodges and think if you talk to others that have owned several models of each (2000 and newer), you will find they will say the same thing.

All brands have inherent problems, and chevy is no different. I know alot of chevy lovers that curse the new chevy ifs. As a brand for brand, it depends on what you do for it. They half ton chevys are not too bad, though the body style looks better with the avalanche package. The HD, the front suspensions are having lots of problems and im not a fan of the duramax. We all have brand loyalty. Mine is Dodge for trucks. like said earlier, to each his own.
I just traded in my '98 Chevy 3-door for my '07 Ram QC. Mechanically, the truck was still a dream and I beat the hell out of that truck. All of the other stuff showed it's age but that's expected I think. The reasonI went to Dodge was mainly price, and the fact the guy that sold me the Town and Country I bought my wife was a great guy.
I won't dog the Chevy but I don't think I'll go back. I just really like the waymy Dodge handles.
