Default Chevy vs Dodge

I currently have a 02 QC 1500 and I do love it but i am starting to look for a replacement. But I am not sure if I am going to go back to Dodge. No real reason just trying to look at all my options. Now i am not interested in an F-150 but i do like the looks of the new Chevy 1500. What are some good reasons i should not buy a Chevy? Mechanicaly speaking that is.

Mechanically, there are none. The GM drive train is solid. I am sure there will be Dodge purist that will not agree, but it is true.

Dodge Ram looks better (Although Chevy is not bad).

Dodge has better warranty.

i was going to buy a chevy before i got the dodge and checked them out pretty good. the only reason i got the dodge was the price. i got it for $24,100 and the best i could get on a comparable chevy was $29,000. the chevys are definitely easier on gas by about 2 mpg but the 5.3 is a little underpowered compared to the hemi. not that the 5.3 is bad, just not quite as powerful as the hemi. if you go with the 6.0 then that will put you just over the hemi and still get about the same mpg. my dad had an '01 chevy 1500 4x4 ext-cab with a 5.3 and got 16 in town. he traded that for an '05 (brand new in '05) 2500 with the 6.0. he gets about 14 in town with it, the same as i get with my 1500 4.7 and he has twice the power as me. he bought both brand new and never had a problem with either and he puts about 25,000 per year on them.
i'm not a huge fan of the interior on the new chevys. its not bad, just not as nice looking as the dodge. exterior is pretty even in my opinion. i like both. the rides are pretty equal. both are smooth.
i think in the end you have to weigh cost and personal preference. i'm a chevy guy. if price would have been a little more equal then i would've got the chevy although i have no complaints about my dodge.

the only true weakness iv heard lately is the new ifs in the 08's. Aside from issues with the duramax, havent heard anything else against it tbh.

I went from an 02 GMC Sierra to my Hemi, I don't regret going to Dodge for 1 minute. The choice was easier here, the local GMC dealer here was an *** and treated me like crap, the manager not just a salesman, and the Dodge dealership caught my eye with the lifetime drivetrain warranty. I test drove my truck and 2 days later it was mine, haven't looked back since. The price was also a good deal better as the GMC place wouldn't budge on the price at all...

But, I still like GM products, and I won't talk bad about the product, just the dealership in my town!!! My Sierra held up wonderfully considering the conditions I put it into, and 180,000 miles it was still purring like a kitten, I was just in the mood for something different...

There must be something wrong with my 2wd07 RCSB ram thenbecause mine rides really rough....my last truck was a Reg cab stepside 99 Silverado 4x4 with torsion bars up front and 100k on the clock, it rode smoother then my ram. Are there any known probs with the 07 suspensions?

To the OP...both chevy and dodge have there perks and downfalls. Chevy hasmore options that are standard (auto headlights, DRL, 4 wheel ABS, lights under the hood and glove box...hahaaha) and in my experiences of having owned 2 silverados the GM's ride better. Dodge has the better warranty, looks better IMO, Hemi sounds better then the LS bases engineswithexhaust, more cab room in the RC trucks...etc

im not going to lie but if i had the money i would have bought a brand new chevy, but for 40,000 for one thats setup how i like it sure doesn't beat the $8000 dodge ram i bought from my uncle.

well my dad has a 03 chevy and he had as a lot of electrical problems from driving lights not working to the gage cluster just stoped working so i will stick with dodge just from the stand point of what i have seen with his and this is just my opinion but the new chevys kinda look like a tonka toy.

my brother owns a construction company, has 10 chevy's. 2500 HD's, plows, hauls 26' enclosed trailers with them, sand, stone, soil etc. completely abuses those trucks, 05 and newer. all in all, one tranny went at 45000 from carrying 6000 lbs of salt up and down the highways to his properties. smoothe riding trucks, solid solid solid. bit pricier, but you get what you pay for. Chevy is a workhorse. if you got the dough, go for it, but for many, warranty is VERY important. dodge has more style, cheaper, better warranty. i think the new chevy has too much steel. looks like a tank, and they don't sit nearly as high from the factory as dodge or ford.
