Hemi "cutting out"
Have an '04 Hemi 2500 with only 18k miles on it. Today, was out running errands and pressed agressively on the gas (not even floored), it got up to about 3,500 RPMs and started bucking and cutting out, like a rev limiter or something?? I assume some problem w/ electronics. Ran fine once I eased up, but did it again when I pushed down hard again. Anyone had this???
Thanks

RE: Hemi "cutting out"
i had that happen twice, both while towing trailers. going up hill with tow/haul on at about 3500-4000 it just was like i shut it off. let off, give it some would be fine till i got to that rpm. this was when it has 7000 and 1300 miles on it. took it to the dealer and of course the same answer i get for anything. "nothings wrong" just like going threw antifreeze is nothing wrong. so i don't know. so i've had a few buddies that work on cars say just blow it up and then you'll get a new engine and trans. so sorry i couldn't help ya but just to let you know i did have that problem

Yep JD1500, saw your thread afterwards...identical. I'm wondering gas too. I had just got gas (Shell) and if not the gas, perhaps cap/vent issues or something that set "something" off. I'm going to try it tomorrow again see if it is still acting up.
As for the 18k miles, they've been "earned" miles w/ lots of towing, but overall short trips. I'm conscious not too let it get "carboned up".

Did you by chance replace your gas cap recently? I know this sounds strange. My did the same thing after I put a aftermarket cap on it. While I was driving (upset) to the dealer the cap hit me. I took it off and it ran like a champ. Since I was already on my way to the dealer I bought a mopar cap and never had an issue since (my original cap was stolen)

Had that happen to when I was out test driving an 06. Never did find out what the problem was but the salesman said probably had something to do with the fact that the trucks were being moved around due to snow removal on the lot and the lack of fuel in the truck. Not a good first impression! Still ended up buying an 06, just not that one!
