Snow Plows
You can put a plow on a 1500. Just don't plan on the biggest Western and don't do heavy commercial accts. Check the Myers site. They have a nice 7.5 I'd put on even with the 4.7 motor. I think it only recommends the Hemi but I do know 2 folks here who are running them without anymore problems thanI had on my 1500's years ago. You'll want a little torsion bar crank same as I did on my 6.0 liter 2500 Hd's back in 2000/2001. Like others have said its the operater and being familiar with whats UNDER the snow that will make a differnce between damage or gettin er done.
it bolts through the lower chrome bumper piece with four bolts need spacers on the bottom so the rod holders would be verticle but it worked out. thanks alot about the spaceing does anyone know if a western or fisher or any other plow will fit with the headlight mount?
That might actually interfere with the way a plow will mount to your frame.
If you look at the frame in the front you'll see 2 holes on each side that go upverticallythrough the frame. That's what the snowbear mounts to.

does ur truck have the front tow hooks because those mount to the frame as well? does it mount to the large flat square that is perpendicular to the frame or is it the frame itself?
OK, i have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab hemi with 20inch wheels, 80k, rear airbags,i have a older Fisher MM plow, and a western proflow2 tailgate sander, i do a few parking lots large and small also a few driveways20 total jobs, my truck never needed a wheel alinment, after plowing orat the end of the season!ONLY when we rised the torsion bars! I have hit curbs and bumps with my plow and my trucks frame never bent! I know allot of people think that these trucks are junk, but really i think people that say this, are just going by hear say, because i use the crap out of my truck and the truck runs exelent, going on three years plowing with no frame bending or front end breaking! So if your looking to put a plow on a ram 1500 why not! Also i never heard of anyonesaying that you cant put a plow on a ram 1500 because they are full of sh*t.... fisher, meyers, western, snow bear, curtis, boss all make plows for these trucks..
good luck.. also my dad has a 03 dodge dakota with a 61/2 western plow, for 3 seasons, and he hasnt had anyproblems either, otherthen the truck being a dog with the v6 in it...
